Spanky

💙ADOPTED❤️ April 2025 — 10yo Spanky and his sister Dottie were found in a studio in Daegu, Korea, with their deceased owner in January 2025. (Swipe for pic of this studio—white bldg.) They were both sent to the shelter, where we rescued both (Dottie has been adopted – her story to come).

Spanky traveled to LA on March 6 where @lennybearpug generously welcomed him in as a foster brother.

With a face like this, it should come as no surprise that he was adopted in less than a month! This is record time for a senior dog! 👏

From his mom, Tara:

“Spanky is the smallest pet I’ve ever had and the loudest. Aside from eating & following me around, his favorite thing to do is spin in circles while barking & trying to catch his tail. Although he is a senior pug, he has a ton of energy. He doesn’t sleep much unless he is touching me, as he is worried that I’ll get up and he won’t notice – which would be criminal if I were getting a snack! He often falls asleep sitting up, which is hilarious. Spanky is a Mama’s boy and gets mad if I close the door and we are separated.

As of Dec, we had a cat, Salvatore, and a senior pug, Brixton. Sadly, the day before my birthday, we had to put Brix down. My whole world was shattered as I had had him since I was 23yo, and he was a part of me. We rescued a beautiful French bulldog named Josephine, who is a sweetheart, but is more interested in my husband and her toys than me. I wasn’t really looking to have 3 pets, but I felt incomplete w/o a pug in my home. So, when I saw Pudding, who bears a very strong resemblance to Brixton, I knew I needed him! Also, coincidentally, when we rescued our cat, his name was Puddin!

I was a little nervous to bring home a senior pug w/a young Frenchie here, as I thought she would annoy him. But it turned out that Spanky bugs her, which is hysterical. If he barks too much, she barrels right into him. Spanky is so cute & funny, and my house now feels full. The way his brow is constantly furrowed makes him look grumpy, but he is a very happy guy.

One of my favorite things about him is his bed routine. When we get in bed, he digs at the covers until I lift them up, he goes down to the end of the bed and back up until he is my little spoon w/his head on my arm. He also likes to sleep up on the couch cushions like a cat if I'm watching TV. Spanky has no interest in toys; however, he goes insane for warm socks and will even take them off my feet. We love Spanky Bulgogi Rusbarsky!!”
