achilles’ Adoption Story
Achilles with his new mom
🖤ADOPTED🖤 July 10, 2025 – Somebody gave up on Achilles, this beautiful 4yo black pug.
In October 2024, he was found as a stray in Busan, the southernmost part of South Korea. It was a desolate, mountainous area with winding roads, abandoned factories, and no nearby villages or homes. Certainly not a place for a small dog to be left to fend for himself (see pic). Achilles had been neglected and without medical care for a long time. Did his weak hind legs and bladder control difficulties drive his original owner to give up on him and dump him? Probably. 😫
Several visits to the vet and testing confirmed a spinal/neurological issue that could not be fully resolved. Despite this, he was relatively healthy and ready for adoption.
A flight volunteer emerged, who took Achilles with her from Korea to JFK on March 26. (Thank you 🫶🏻)
We arranged with our friends @pugrescueofnewengland to pick Achilles up from the airport, foster and care for him, and find his forever family.
As the youngsters say, PRONE goes hard 😤. Kathy made the 2-hour drive to JFK to pick him up—and the next week, she boarded a plane to Minneapolis to pick up Stitch from another flight volunteer! 🙏
Then, in July, Achilles was adopted by a family in Vermont. We are so delighted to see him unconditionally loved at last. 🥹
Achilles, none of us gave up on you! Look at you now! 💕
