bea’s Adoption Story

Bea on her gotcha day with Mom C

🖤ADOPTED🖤 Feb 5, 2025 – When we rescued 4yo Bea (fka Tala) from the shelter in Jun 2024, she was a picture of neglect. How could we tell? Her tattered collar, positive heartworm test, shrunken eye w no vision, & grade 4 luxating patellas (the most severe) in BOTH legs.

After a vet exam, we surmised that she was likely born in a puppy mill in a rural province, but due to her unappealing congenital eye defect, no pet store would take her. She was unsellable.

When the puppy mill gave up on her, they dumped her in an agricultural area with greenhouses and rice farms (see pic). She was a wee thing – only 7lbs.

Nobody would’ve adopted her from the shelter, given all her medical needs. She would have surely been euthanized, having only known neglect & pain.

But fear not! We got her, too care of all her medical needs, then handed her to a flight volunteer to take her from Korea to Vegas on Dec 25, 2024 (Merry Christmas!). @pugsandryan fostered her until her forever family picked her up (thank you 🙏).

Our world should be blessed with more families like @prucrupugs, who lovingly welcome these “unsellable” dogs. 💝

In her moms’ words:

“Bea is doing fantastic! In true pru cru fashion, she has gained a little bit of weight since she joined our family in February, now weighing a whopping 9 pounds!

We say that she is small & mighty. She is persistent, fearless & will always tell you what she wants. She loves all people! Even when she first meets someone, she will let them hold & snuggle her and will usually try to groom them w her fantastically long tongue.

Bea is always in the middle of anything that is happening (“biggest helper” “busy bea”) esp if it involves food. Some of her favorite snackies include corn on the cob, cheese, salmon, ice cream, & fruit frozen into ice blocks that keep her and the cru busy.

“It seems like she’s been w us for a very long time, even though it has only been a few months.

She is working on mastering social skills w the rest of the cru. She is making great progress on willingly climbing into dog beds w her siblings & sometimes almost plays tug w her brother Louis (instead of voraciously shaking toys on her own). Though we are sure she thinks she is a person, she’s decided her 5 siblings are pretty OK too.

Bea is the biggest cuddle pug! If she had her way, she would always be held. She esp likes to snuggle around our faces at bedtime. If we sit down, she is the first to dash to our laps. If a lap is occupied by a sibling, she will squeeze in anyway & usually succeeds in making them leave.

Bea loves loves loves the sunshine ☀️. Any chance she gets, she is sunbathing on our deck.

Mom d saw her picture right after she was rescued & couldn't stop thinking about her (it didn't help that several people also sent her pic saying she looked like a cru member). She has the same "baby eye" and long tongue that our cru member Ivy (also from PRK) has - and they have a similar background story.

We had agreed to keep our cru count at 5 for a little while after a lot of pug medical challenges. But when Bea popped up on Mom d's IG feed on Christmas Day, announcing her arrival in America, she couldn't stop thinking about the little lady. So, she has to thank Mom C for being willing to add another cru member (again). We also want to thank her foster dad, Ryan, & his crew. And extra huge thanks to Kim & everyone in South Korea who worked so hard to save her & give her a good life.”

CONGRATS to the prucru! 💕
