Schmidt’s Adoption Story
Schmidt with his dad
💙ADOPTED❤️ Nov 24, 2024 – When we first shared our rescue of 3yo Schmidt, he was POPULAR. We think it was due to his unconventional looks – a leggy, dark-apricot-colored pug.
He was found wandering on the streets in Gumi, the Southern part of Korea, where huge factories abound. From our rescuer: “Few apricot fur pugs are in Korea 🧡. I worried he is a pug or not at first lol. His shelter has a vet clinic. Thanks to a lady (running grooming shop), who freed him so I could get him in Aug 2024.”
We repaired his dislocated kneecap and then put him on a plane in Nov to meet his new family, the Tavareses!
From his mom, Nicole:
“Schmidt adapted so well to our home! He's such a scrappy and spunky pup, you would never even know he had patellar surgery. Even with all his puppy-like energy, he's still such a good boy, listens well, and loves to cuddle and get belly scratches. It took him a while to warm up to city life, but now he loves the outdoors and LOVES meeting new people & other dogs.
It felt empty in our house without our first pug Hank, and now that we're back to 2 dogs, our home feels complete. Schmidt really livens the atmosphere, keeping us entertained. I can never be in a bad mood when I look at his face, he's JUST TOO CUTE.
Like many pugs, he has no concept of personal space. He gets REALLY close to your face to sniff you out, if you're lucky, you'll get a kiss out of it, and he loves to nuzzle very close. He loves to play with his beds like they're toys; no matter how big they are, he will drag them up and down the stairs.
After we lost Pug Rescue of Korea Alum, Hank, we knew we eventually wanted to add another pug to the family. We love their attitudes and personalities and can't imagine life without one. Once we were ready to welcome a new dog, we started paying more attention to the dogs coming in. I saw a picture of Schmidt on the Korean Instagram for pugs of Korea and immediately fell in love with his strange sit and adorable face. My husband also saw him that day and brought him to my attention without even knowing.”
It was kismet! Congrats to this happy family! 🤗 Thank you to Sena who fostered him in Korea.
