colin’s Adoption Story
Colin’s arrival in the US
💙ADOPTED❤️ Dec 30, 2024 – Before we rescued him on May 30, 2024, 4-year-old Colin was an unwanted pug, passed from home to home until he landed at the shelter.
His journey to us truly highlights the resilience of these incredible animals. Three years after being rehomed by his first owner, Colin was abandoned again and ended up at a shelter. The shelter contacted his original owner via microchip. Still, despite the very real risk of euthanasia, they refused him: "I gave him away years ago for a reason, and I still don't want him."
No problem; we got you, Colin! From that heartbreaking rejection, Colin's path shifted. He flew with a flight volunteer from Korea to Newark on Sep 8, where the Barrons met him and brought him home to Chicago.
His mom, Lisa:
“My husband, Jeff, & I still don’t understand how Colin’s previous owners in S. Korea didn’t want him: He is sweet, loving, well-behaved, entertaining, friendly to all dogs & people, and cuddly!
Colin has adapted so well to his new home in America that it seems like he’s always lived here. He loves walks in our neighborhood, prancing proudly, and reveling in the inevitable pets and coos from people on the street. He loves sleeping in the big bed and cuddling up when we put him on the couch. He has a humorous habit of “going undercover,” building himself a fort under the comforter.
When we come home, he does twirly whirlies and jumps on his hind legs, dancing for treats. Funniest of all is that we call Colin the kissing bandit -- we never know when or where he will strike with his licks.
Colin is the 3rd pug we’ve adopted. We previously lost our rescue pug, Bogart, and before him, our rescue pug, Miss Mao. I lived in Asia for 12 years and loved pugs. We lived in NYC and adopted both Bogart and Miss Mao from the East Coast Asian Dog Rescue in New Jersey, which has now unfortunately closed. When Bogart passed away, we were living in Chicago; we knew we wanted to adopt another pug from an organization like ECADR, but didn’t think one existed. After researching, we found Pug Rescue of Korea, where I have spent a lot of time, and knew this was meant to be.
Very soon after applying, Melody emailed, asking if we could foster Colin, who was arriving in Newark, NJ, in about 2 weeks. Another pug from another rescue so devoted to saving them? We flew to Newark to meet Colin, and the rest is history.”
We never get tired of sharing these heartwarming adoption stories. Congrats to this happy family! 🥰
