fauna’s Adoption Story
Fauna
🐶ADOPTED🐶 Jan 12, 2025 – We're thrilled to share a happy adoption story about a pug who truly tested our matchmaking skills: Fauna (fka Calla)! This beautiful, 3yo alpha girl needed a particular environment, so we weren't sure how long it would take to find her ideal home. (Shout out to Camille for opening her NYC home to foster Calla for 3 months!) Well, it all paid off, because she officially found her forever family with the Schiffmans in Oklahoma!
Rescued Apr 29, 2024, Fauna became a shelter dog when her owner was found deceased.
From her dad, Ian:
“Like many, we fell in love with @showmenoodz pug & his dad, Jon. We eagerly awaited his bones or no bones forecasts. We then followed Jon as he adopted Milton from Pug Rescue of Korea. We saw Fauna's first post on IG and remarked how sweet she looked, but we weren't quite ready for a new baby, having lost our darling 15yo Piglet the previous year. Months later, when we felt it was time, Fauna came up again in our feed, and we knew she would be the perfect new addition to our family!
Fauna quickly settled in as ruler & protector of the house. When the alert goes off that someone is at the front door, she will run, barking, to it and kick it as if to say, "Don't you mess with me, this is MY house!"
She is very vocal about meal times, loves playing with her toys and selecting which of her many doggie beds to snooze in. She also enjoys lounging on "the big bed" with Mama and Papa. Fauna gets very excited whenever her harness is retrieved. She's always game for walkies and trips to the dog park, where she can show her confidence by marking everything and doing her "kicky dance" to spread the warrior princess' scent for all to acknowledge!
When she is happy, exploring, or finds a good scent, she makes adorable little grumbling noises, like purring. Fauna is mostly fearless. She’s not scared of thunder; she screams at it, ready to fight the sky! She has a new brother, Bren the hedgehog 🦔, whom she is very curious about & loves to help "get ready for school" at night when he gets up for his nocturnal activities.
Fauna loves to snuggle while we watch television, until a baby, child, or dog appears on the screen, prompting her to scream at the interloper. One of our favorite programs, and her least, is Orangutan Jungle School. Fauna is determined to drive those furry apes out of her house!
Fauna maintains her "big girl" independence at times, roaming & exploring the house but often fits the pug stereotype of a Velcro dog, wanting to be right next to her mama or papa, sometimes hugging so close when you walk that she trips you, or "herding" her humans towards where she knows the food & treats are stored. Our little Korean baby gremlin has brought so much joy into our lives and household, and we hope to return that joy to her.
Congratulations to Fauna, Bren 🦔, and the Schiffmans!
