Esperanza’s Adoption Story
Esmee with her moms when they picked he up from the airport
💙ADOPTED❤️Dec 27, 2024 – You might remember that in Oct 2024, we rescued 8 pugs (out of 700 dogs) from a wretched puppy mill in Busan, South Korea. Little Esperanza was one of them.
We named her Esperanza, meaning hope in Spanish, and she has really illustrated this virtue ✨. Despite her traumatic past, now 3yo Esperanza showed herself to be a happy, playful, and active pug. When we rescued her, her right eye was shrunken (aka baby eye) with no vision, and she had conjunctivitis. You can see in her photos that her fur is short. That evil puppy mill owner earned money by allowing grooming trainees to practice ✂️ on the dogs.
At 13lbs, she was small enough to fly in-cabin with flight volunteer Katherine (thank you!), so onto a plane she went, headed for Portland, OR.
PRK Adopters Amber and her wife, who adopted LeeLee and Gamja from us, picked her up and fostered her…and, her words:
“Another foster failure and the best decision EVER!♡
Essee is everything that is wonderful about love. Since the day she arrived in our lives, she has been showering ALL of us with love. My wife is battling cancer, and the Pugs and I are her caregivers. Essee is for sure meant to be here as the head nurse and leader of the pack! Her disability with her eyes doesn't stop this little lady; she's UNSTOPPABLE!
She's also a master gardener, sous chef, and quality control for all edible goods. Kitchen work is her passion.
Essee loves Flynn (Gamja) most of all, but also loves her LeeLee (Leah) and even her senior sister crab, Pookah. She has so many friends here, and playing is high on her list of daily activities.
We look forward to going on some family trips with the crew soon, and we even got them stroller-trained.
Our trio of PRK kids has been the best Pugs. The love and gratitude that they give is like no other. 💖”
Congratulations to this lovely family living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with their grumble! Esperanza will never know darkness again. 🥹
