I’M AVAILABLE!

Hi! I’m Shokupan!

Meet shokupan!

  • Calm, very velcro, sweet, friendly. Shokupan is affectionate like a cat and wants to rub against you. He wants to be next to you more than anything. He has all the typical pug qualities, except for being extremely quiet.

  • Our favorite qualities about Shokupan are that he’s very sweet and low-maintenance.

  • He has been completely silent except for some minor whining when we are preparing his food (not fast enough). We haven't heard one bark from him. He’s very quiet. Not a guard dog.

  • He is potty trained, but hasn’t figured out the doggy door. He doesn't mark.

  • He is crate trained. He has been sleeping quietly in the crate at night. We have left him crated at home alone for several hours without issue.

  • Shokupan hasn’t shown any anxiety.

He tries to get through the pool fence if he is on the yard side and I'm on the pool side.

  • Zero alpha qualities. He's friendly with other dogs, but doesn't really play. More focused on his human.

  • He is good with kids. He’s friendly with everyone.

  • He doesn’t chew things he’s not supposed to.

  • Shokupan would do well in a home with dogs or without. He's very focused on his person, but is friendly with other dogs.

  • The best home scenario for Shokupan – He would adapt well to many scenarios, as long as the family has lots of time to spend with him. Someone who works from home who wants a constant companion would be ideal.

Shokupan’s Rescue Story

Shokupan’s owner, an older male, was found deceased (from cancer, neighbors say). In Korea, when someone is found dead, their dog is sent to the shelter if a family member doesn’t claim ownership. No family member came forward, so the staff of Ganreung shelter (where Bruno was freed in 2024) called us to get him.

Health Considerations

  • Shokupan has exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, meaning he lacks a digestive enzyme and needs lifetime meds. This explains why he's so thin. He has a supply of the enzyme-replacing medication that will last him until mid-June.

  • We repaired his hernia.

  • When we rescued him, he had cryptosporidium, a diarrhea-causing disease spread through germs that live in the feces of infected people or animals. Per vet, he contracted it due to his a weak immune system. We hospitalized him to strengthen his immune system and with time, he recovered.

*Adoption fee covers vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, all medical care, and transportation from Korea to the US. For more information on the adoption process and fee, visit how to adopt.
