I’M AVAILABLE!
Hi! I’m roux!
Meet roux!
Roux is a fun, lively, sweet, and loving young dog. He loves being around his human, but isn't always in your space; he just wants to know you're there. He's playful and curious but not aggressive. And he’s not as crazy about food like other pugs are!
Roux is unique - all white with dark brown spots near his snout, with his left ear up and his right ear flopped down.
Loves to be around his humans
You’ll know he’s ready for bed when he digs & burrows under the blanket and finds a spot by his human's legs.
Gentle when given treats. Patiently waits for his meals.
Loves to play with plushies
He is almost potty-trained! He still wears a belly band to prevent marking. He’s only had accidents when he's left alone (could be due to anxiety). He pees when taken out for walks and poops after meals on the patio.
He has separation anxiety, but it’s improved with time (he’s feeling more secure in his home) and distraction.
He’s not crate trained. He’ll cry and be anxious when in a crate.
Roux is a sweet boy who can sometimes get overwhelmed by his surroundings. Recently, his foster mom has noticed he is sensitive to noise and has a hard time regulating himself when he gets overly excited. In high-trigger moments—like a guest ringing the doorbell or during meal prep—Roux can get frustrated and redirect that energy by snapping at his foster brother. He does best when his humans intervene right away to redirect his focus, and he would thrive in a home that can help him navigate these moments of sensory overload.
He is sensitive to noise and will bark at unusual noises or when he hears other dogs bark.
With other dogs, he can be more dominant, but mainly when anxious or excited. When calm and comfortable, he doesn't show those traits around his foster dog brother.
He gets along with other dogs.
He is leash-aggressive and will need training to stay calm when he sees other dogs on the street.
Roux would fit in well in a home with a human who is willing to train or work with his anxieties, who won't be away all day, and who appreciates his energy. He would do fine in a home with other dogs as long as their personalities blend well together, but we can see him being happy as an only dog as well.
NOTE: Roux’s body is too long to fit in a carrier under the seatback in the plane. So his future family will need to drive to pick him up. His measurements are 21" (length) x 7" x 15" (height standing up).
