I’M AVAILABLE!

Hi! I’m fern gully!

Meet Fern Gully!

  • Fern Gully is a chill, easygoing guy, except for mealtimes, when he barks and hops up and down.

  • My favorite qualities are his cuddliness and his thick, soft fur. I can’t help but smile to see his tail wagging during car rides. I love how he snuggles into my neck when I hold him, and I love his soft fur. He’s a canine version of your favorite teddy bear.

  • He has a very predictable potty schedule. I take him outside around 8am, after each meal, and right before bed.

  • Fern Gully doesn’t like being bumped around by our other foster pugs while I’m getting the meals together.

  • He mainly barks during food prep or if he needs to go outside. Otherwise, he’s quiet.

  • Fern Gully is not alpha or dominant. He is good with other dogs.

  • He’s not an anxious soul and he isn’t a barker.

  • Fern Gully is great with kids. He’s my first choice to take to our school presentations. We talk to the kids about adopting older, differently abled dogs. He really enjoys being held and petted by the children.

  • Fern Gully would do best with another calm dog, or just with his people. He’d also be fine home alone for several hours; he sleeps a lot.

  • Fern Gully would love to be in a home where he is held a lot, gets to go on car rides and outings and in a home with a predictable schedule. His new family will be so, so blessed to have him.

fern gully’s Rescue Story

Fern Gully was originally found wandering around a commercial area of factories and warehouses in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. We believe he was dumped there after a brutal life in a puppy mill.

When he entered the shelter on 9/23/24, he was even thinner than these photos, if you can believe it. The shelter fed him, and he gained a little weight.

The shelter staff said to each other, “He’s in such bad condition. No one will come for her.” But we did. Eighteen days later on 10/11/24, we got him.

He was days away from dying when he entered the shelter.

If we didn’t rescue him from the shelter, he would’ve died – either from complications of his medical issues or from euthanasia.

Fern Gully’s shelter listing didn’t fully illustrate just how bad her condition was. That’s why our volunteer was stunned when she arrived at the shelter to pick him up. Upon seeing him, she cried and cried.

Fern was hospitalized at the vet. Along with extreme malnourishment, he had Malassezia (a yeast infection on the skin), bad ears, anemia, and low albumin levels. Finally, in Jan 2025, he was healthy enough to travel to the US to find his forever home.

Health Considerations

  • Fern Gully is blind.

  • In Nov 2025, Fern Gully underwent eye enucleation surgery to remove both his eyeballs. He was already blind in both eyes and in significant pain.

  • He needs his ears cleaned several times a week.

  • His skin can get yeasty, so he requires more regular bathing.

  • He had a complete dental in early December.
